Surly Steamroller Single Speed Frameset 2011

Surly Steamroller Single Speed Frameset 2011: A steamroller has the ability to flatten anything in it's path, which is exactly how you'll feel the first time you take our Surly Steamroller fixed-gear for a twirl. Designed to give you the ideal foundation for a pure and unadulterated fixed gear bicycle… you may think 'messenger', 'track', urban assault or coffee shop… or whatever… but make it your thing. As we have said since we introduced the Steamroller frameset, we won't try to convince you that riding 'fixed' is better or special or why you should try it. You'll have to try that for yourself. But whether you're old school or new hat, you'd be hard pressed to find a better canvas to build your ideal street machine. It's made from Surley 4130 CroMoly steel because steel is durable and responsive, things we like and we're pretty sure you do too. Its geometry is tight compared to road frames and relaxed compared to twitchy track frames. It takes big tyres because big tyres make sense – Tyre casings flex before the frame. It's got almost no 'features', no pump peg, no housing stops, no cell phone or GPS mount. Just a set of water bottle braze-ons. Well, it does have a nice brazed crown fork we think looks pretty snazzy. If you're like us, you may consider less tangible elements (such as ride quality) to be features and it's got these in spades. This is a frame meant for riding. Everyday. It was designed by cyclists for cyclists. It's most at home on the street, but it's also track legal and does a pretty fair job on trails too. It's a fixed gear frame in the tradition of fixed gears, before there were freewheels or handbrakes (effective ones, anyway), harkening back to a time when big tyres weren't a design feature but a necessity, when a ride was an adventure. But hey, don't let us convince you. Try one out, it may just become your favourite bike Double butted Surly Cro-Mo tubing Investment cast Surly track dropouts FFF chainstays (up to 700x38c + guards) Chainstay clearance; up to 50T ring No braze-ons (except 1 set of S/T cage mounts) 68mm BB, 120mm rear spacing, 11/8" head Weight: 1.9Kg (53cm frame only) Traditional brazed Cr-Mo fork (850g) included

Surly Pacer Road Bike Frame

Surly Pacer Road Bike Frame: All day Steel Roadie frame. Conservative geometry, comfortable steel ride, with adequate 'out of the saddle' lateral stiffness for those sprints home. Every once in awhile you stumble upon something you didn't go looking for and never expected to find but it ends up putting a smile on your face. Like, when you are looking through your record collection and find a copy of William Shatner's classic album "The Transformed Man", that you thought your mother had sold in a garage sale while you were off workin' on your big brain at college. Stuff like that. A similar experience is in store for you the first time you throw your leg over our Pacer frameset and get it up to speed on the open road. It isn't the fastest or lightest bike you'll ever ride, but then again, it isn't trying to be. This frame was designed as an all-day bike, which means comfort and reliability. The 4130 TIG-welded frame and brazed fork are designed to take the edge off the bumps and cracks in the road, but remain laterally stiff for those out-of-the-saddle sprints and climbs. The Pacer also isn't trying to be the most fashionable bike on the coffee shop circuit, but our new color and freshly changed graphics add a classic styling to this frame that just might turn a few heads for how unrevolutionary it is. The understated beauty of this bike allows you to ride it without worrying what you look like. Lycra full team kit? Sure. Cutoff jeans, sleeveless tee and sandals? Absolutely! GrrAnimals? Whatever. Heck, you could even show up sporting purple tyres and not look out of place. Everyone is welcome here. Though vertical compliance is definitely a goal when designing a frame, tyre clearance is just as important. The casings of your tyres flex before your frame and fork do, and wide tyres generally flex more than narrow ones, giving you a softer ride. Wide tyres can be faster than skinnies on a lot of surfaces that you will encounter on your rig. So, the Pacer was designed to accept 700 x 28 tyres with fenders or 700 x 32 tyres without. The Pacer is spec'd with a 1-1/8" threadless fork because of the wide selection of headsets and stems available to accommodate it. Like most Surly frames, this one uses commonly available components: 27.2mm seatpost, 68mm bottom bracket, 130mm rear hub… basically, items that you might have lying around, waiting for a chance to be used. We recommend using standard-reach (47-57mm) brakes, but most short reach (40-50mm) fit. The durability and versatility of the Pacer make it an ideal commuter, day-tripper, and vehicle for exploration. The frame is offered in 9 sizes (42-62cm), so there should be a Pacer that fits you. Double butted 4130 Cro-Mo tubing Surly 'Breeze-in' vertical dropouts Mudguard eyes and pump pegs 68mm BB, 130mm rear spacing Front derailleur clamp diameter: 28.6mm 1 1/8" threadless brazed semi-sloping crown Cr-Mo fork (1Kg) included Weight: 2Kg (54cm frame only)

Surly Long Haul Trucker Road Frame 2011

Surly Long Haul Trucker Road Frame 2011: In an age of 'epic' this and 'extreme' that, when it seems everything is new and improved, bigger, better, & faster, it might seem antithetic for us to build-or for you to buy-a touring frame. Didn't those die off with the other dinosaurs of the 70s? Truth is, there is little as epic as a really long bike ride. It resets your mind. It challenges your body and spirit. It stirs and purges, soothes and recharges. 'The daily grind' becomes meaningful. Just you, and everything you need to live, packed up on your bike. So where do you want to go? To work and back everyday? A week long trip to the next state over? Or perhaps La Paz, Bolivia, via Homer, Alaska. Maybe you just want to wake up and wonder where you are. The Surly Long Haul Trucker is the right tool for the job. It's not flashy and it's not made of the latest, lightest, thinnest alloy. It is made, like all our frames, of cro-moly steel. Why? Because steel is tough and durable, yet resilient. It soaks up the rough stuff, but remains stiff enough to provide an efficient ride. Sure, aluminum can be tough and carbon fiber can soak up road static. Heck, titanium even acts a lot like steel. But there is nothing else that does all the things that steel does for so little money. What did we do with steel on this frameset? We designed the geometry for all day, every day comfort, even fully loaded (quite different from the vast majority of frames out there). Long chain stays and laid back head and seat tube angles provide a comfy platform for day after day after day in the saddle. It's got 3 sets of water bottle cage bosses. It's got braze-ons for carrying a couple of extra spokes. It's got braze-ons for front and rear racks. The head tube is taller on top to help put you in a more upright position and save strain on your neck and back, shoulders, wrists and elbows. Like all Surlys, it sports practical, standard sizing for things like seatpost, front derailleur, and stem. It even sports downtube shifter braze-ons. All this means you can easily find new parts for it or use stuff you already have. The Long Haul Trucker isn't the bike that everyone is going to have. It isn't the next big thing. It won't race like a champ or scream down rocky single track. It isn't about impressing your friends. It's a tool for finding out what you are capable of inside. Are you ready to ride? Traditional style Cr-Mo steel Touring frame & fork set, for all day, every day comfort, even when fully loaded. Double Mudguard eyelets and a full set of Braze-ons, including rack mounts Pump peg Chainstay spare spoke holder Downtube lever bosses, Triple waterbottle cage mounts and rear canti housing stop Vertical 135mm rear hub spacing.. allows MTB hubs Suitable for double or triple chainsets Double butted Surly Cro-Mo main tubes Surly vertical dropouts 135mm MTB rear dropout spacing Weight: 2.34 Kg (5.15lbs) (58cm frame only) Double mudguard eyelet, brazed crown Cro-mo fork with lowrider mounts (1.02 Kg) included 42,46,50,52,54,56,58,60 or 62cm sizes

Surly Troll Framset 2011

Buy now. Pay later on Surly Troll Framset 2011. Surly Troll Framset 2011: Try out different tyres or handlebars. Add some racks and gears or strip it down to a singlespeed drivetrain. Take it camping, ride it to the grocery store or session on your favourite single-track. Build it up, ride it for a while, then reinvent it. The Troll's geometry is that of a 26" wheeled mountain bike, but it's unlike most mountain bikes. It's got ample clearance for 24/36/48t mountain triple chainrings and room for big tires, up to 26 x 2.7". The gusseted front triangle, with its sloping toptube, provides ample standover clearance even when running high-volume rubber. Run a 100mm travel suspension fork if you like, or you might choose to leave the Troll's fork in place. Like the frame, it's made of 4130 CroMoly steel, providing a stout yet resilient, point-and-shoot ride. There are a lot of notable features, like full line guides for derailleur and brake housing, fender eyelets, and disc and rim brake mounts. Both the frame and fork are equipped with mounts for front and rear racks, and the design allows the use of racks, fenders and disc brakes all at the same time. It's worth taking a look at the rear dropout area. Similar to our Pugsley and Karate Monkey dropouts, the Troll has horizontal, rear-load dropouts with a derailleur hanger. Additionally, however, there's a dedicated area for anchoring a Rohloff hub OEM2 axle plate, and we've included threaded holes in the thick plate material for installing Surly trailer-mounting nuts. Tubing: Surly 4130 CroMoly steel. TIG-welded. Main triangle double-butted Seatpost diameter: 27.2mm Seatpost clamp: 30.0mm Surly stainless, included Headset/stem: 1-1/8" threadless Bottom bracket: 73mm shell width, threaded standard English (1.37" x 24t) Braze-ons/extras: Full-length housing line guides for derailleur's and brakes; 2 sets of water bottle cage mounts, removable post cantilever pivots; upper seatstay threaded barrels,mid-and low-blade fully threaded through-blade fork eyelets; threaded holes for racks, fenders and trailer mounting nuts; Rohloff OEM2 axle plate mounting slot. Surly Karate Monkey 29er Hardtail Frameset

Surly Karate Monkey 29er Hardtail Frameset

Surly Karate Monkey 29er Hardtail Frameset: The Karate Monkey is all about big wheels and versatility. Build it up as a 700c mountain bike, cyclocross bike, commuter, or backcountry tourer. Create your ideal Frankenstein. We decided to produce a 29er because we thought we could make improvements on the current designs from other manufacturers, while offering a unique, quality frameset at a Surly price. Mission accomplished. Frameset geometry is the key to the handling characteristics of any bike. It doesn't matter how pretty it is, or how many braze-ons it has, if it rides like crap. We want you to use the Karate Monkey on singletrack, as well as fire roads and pavement, so we spent time figuring out the best ways to make our rig handle like a mountain bike…not like a tractor. The most obvious frame component of the Karate Monkey is the curved seat tube. This feature allows us to use shorter chainstays without worrying about the rear tire rubbing on the seat tube when the wheel is jammed all the way forward in the dropouts. Shorter chainstays mean quicker handling and better traction at the rear. Toe overlap is another concern with big-wheeled bikes. We tweaked our measurements to eliminate overlap, while maintaining the riding characteristics of a mountain bike. Options galore. Single-speed? Sure. Like gears? Use some. The Karate Monkey will accommodate a standard or compact mountain triple up front, and a cassette full o'cogs in the 135mm-spaced rear. Our Surly horizontal dropouts are cast with a derailleur hanger, so you have several drivetrain options. Disc brakes or cantilevers? Once again, it's up to you. The Karate Monkey comes with International Standard disc mounts and removable canti pivots. Rigid or suspended front end? We provide a unicrown, tapered straight blade, suspension-corrected rigid fork. Do as you wish. Like all Surly frames and forks, the Karate Monkey is built with Surly 4130 cro-moly. The butted tubes are thick enough to withstand a derby circle beating, but thin enough to deliver the fine ride characteristics that steel is known for. Careful Surly design, allows the Karate Monkey to handle like a Mountain bike (and not a tractor !). Big wheels used to be for the fun fair…. now, with the Karate Monkey you can just stick to the fun factor! Double butted Surly Cro-Mo tubing. Surly cast horizontal dropouts. Curved seat tube for shorter tail. ISO disc mounts and removable canti pivots. 73mm BB, 135mm rear spacing. Weight: 2.6Kg (18" frame only) Suspension corrected, Unicrown, tapered straight blade Cr-Mo fork (1.2Kg) included. Black or Royal Blue Sizes: 16, 18, 20 or 22"

Surly 1x1 Hardtail Frameset

Surly 1×1 Hardtail Frameset: Nobody wants to spend a bunch of cash on a single-speed…and why should they? To do so is contrary to the whole spirit of the single-speed experience. At Surly, we have known this for years and are continuing to offer our excellent 1×1 single-speed frameset. The 1×1 features a beefy, double-butted 100% cro-moly suspension-corrected frame and 1 1/8" hard fork. The motivations to purchase a 1×1 are endless. Maybe you need a derby-rated steed. Maybe your financial sensibilities have kicked into overdrive at the sight of thick 4130 steel for a price you can justify. Perhaps the wide, curvy stays tempt you to try stuffing in some flat-trackin' skins. Maybe you can't stomach the extra twelve cents per gallon for premium, or maybe you just wanna try something new. Whatever the reason, we're sure you will appreciate the form, function, and value of the 1×1 as much as we do. How does it ride? Take a look at our detailed geometry chart and you'll see our design is, well, regular. Take the 1×1 for a spin and you'll find that it merely "rides like a bike" – leaving you right at home to forget about the machine and enjoy the ride. The 1×1 rides so nice you won't notice it (you 1×1 owners, who have written, know what we're talkin' about). The 1×1 is available in x-small, small, medium, large, and x-large sizes. Designed by single-speeders for single-speeders. As with all things Surly, you can't go wrong. Keep lookin' our way for more good deals on tough cro-moly bikes, framesets, and unique components. Why do people like it so much? Well for starters, it's steel. Steel rides like nothing else (when was the last time you saw a spring made of aluminum?), takes a lot of crap and doesn't cost an arm and a leg. Then we threw dowwwwwn some good ideas, like semi-horizontal dropouts with a derailleur hanger, our FFF stays so you can run big, fat tires (even with fenders), long-popular measurements for things like front derailleur clamp and seatpost, and our Gnot-Rite rear spacing that takes mountain and road hubs. What does all this mean to you? Options, kid, that's what. Get yer freak on. Gears? Great. Single speed? No sweat. Commuter? Touring bike? Grocery getter? Bring it on. Or build it as a bonafide 'cross bike and race it. It likes it. Best of all, it's actually affordable.
